Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in San Juan, Puerto Rico, seeks a Project Manager to lead transmission and distribution projects from concept to completion. You will manage scope, schedule, budget, and client relationships across multi-disciplinary teams.

The role emphasizes business development for the Transmission and Distribution practice, proposal preparation, and coordination with Account Managers to win repeat work while delivering high-quality engineering and construction services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
• 7+ years of related experience, including 3+ years managing engineering projects in Transmission & Distribution. Master's may substitute for one year of experience.
• PE registration preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with broad application.
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with production of transmission design and construction documents; distribution experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of NESC and other industry codes is highly preferred.
• Ability to travel and handle multiple contracts.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall management of projects from concept to completion, including siting, environmental, permitting, planning, estimating, engineering, ROW acquisition, project controls, procurement, constructability reviews, and closeout.
• Develop and maintain client relationships; focus on repeat business within each Account.
• Prepare proposals, assist in presentations, and participate in contract negotiations.
• Develop and monitor project schedules, manage scope, and control costs.
• Manage internal project financials, staffing, risk management, and change control.
• Serve as primary client contact for coordination, strategic planning, budget, subcontracting, and schedule attainment.
• Ensure deliverables meet client satisfaction and QA/QC guidelines; report progress and issues; travel as required.
• Assist in hiring, training, and mentoring; coordinate multi-discipline teams on projects.
