Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a senior transmission design engineer in Clayton, MO area. You will design transmission lines from 69 kV to 500 kV, perform cost analyses, develop design criteria, and oversee routing and siting activities.

The role requires ABET‑accredited engineering education, 7+ years of project experience, and proficiency with PLS‑CADD and MS Office. Hybrid work schedule with occasional travel to sites and client meetings is offered.

Qualifications

• Degree from an ABET‑accredited engineering program.
• Proficiency with PLS‑CADD software to review transmission line models.
• 7+ years of experience in project‑team roles observing schedules and budget constraints.
• Knowledge to verify/review right‑of‑way requirements, conductor sags/tensions, plan & profile drawings, and construction documents.
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles for technical plans, drawings, and models.
• Experience in writing and providing support documentation for engineering calculations.
• Familiarity with design codes and standards such as NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318.
• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Design transmission lines in the 69 kV to 500 kV range.
• Conduct cost analyses and develop design criteria, routing, and siting of transmission lines.
• Perform conductor selection studies, shielding, grounding, and induction studies.
• Collaborate with vendors and clients to specify transmission line components.
• Direct a small project team.
