Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a transmission line engineer in Houston, TX to design lines from 69kV to 765kV, analyze structures and foundations, and develop specs for materials and construction. You will model lines, evaluate ROWs, and review vendor submittals.

Requires ABET-accredited degree, 3+ years of experience, and proficiency with PLS-CADD/PLS-POLE; strong MS Office skills and communication are essential. Hybrid schedule with in-office work 3 days/week.

Qualifications

• Requires ABET-accredited engineering degree.
• 3+ years of related transmission line engineering experience.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with design codes and standards (NESC, IEEE, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Design transmission lines in the 69kV to 765kV range.
• Perform structural analysis and design of pole, lattice, framed, and guyed structures.
• Perform foundation designs.
• Conductor selection studies, shielding, grounding and induction studies.
• Develop cost estimates and schedules and prepare procurement specs.
• Specify transmission line components.
• Model lines in PLS-CADD, determine ROW requirements, calc conductor sags, create plan/profile drawings.
• Review vendor submittals.
