Burns & McDonnell’s Transmission & Distribution division is seeking a staff Transmission Line Engineer to join our Akron, OH and Columbus, OH offices. The role focuses on designing high- and extra-high voltage transmission lines (69-500kV) using PLS-CADD, preparing construction documents, and delivering rigorous technical solutions for clients.

You will lead project work, mentor junior staff, maintain client relationships, and provide field support during construction.

Qualifications

ABET-accredited degree in Civil Engineering or related field with 3 years of transmission engineering experience.
ABET-accredited degree in Civil Engineering Technology with FE exam and 3 years of transmission engineering experience.
Master's degree in Civil Engineering with 2 years of transmission engineering experience.

Responsibilities

Design HV and EHV transmission lines (69-500kV) using PLS-CADD.
Prepare construction documents, plan/profile drawings, loading trees and foundation drawings.
Prepare specifications and project design criteria.
Provide field support during construction.
Provide technical leadership and mentor junior staff; build client relationships.
Travel to client sites; HVDC experience is a plus.
Other duties as assigned.
