Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. in Lansdale, PA seeks a Transmission Line Engineer III to join a dedicated electric transmission design team.

You will design and analyze high-voltage overhead lines from 34.5kV to 500kV, applying NESC, ASCE and IEEE standards, and produce plans, profiles, BOMs and construction drawings. With 3+ years of experience, you will use AutoCAD, PLS-CADD and related tools, collaborate with clients, and travel to project sites as needed to gather data and support

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 3+ years of relevant experience as a Transmission Line Engineer in consulting or utility.
• Experience with NESC, ASCE and IEEE standards.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, PLS-CADD, MFAD, Vibrec, Vortx, L-Pile.
• Proficiency with MS Office Software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates basic knowledge of NESC, ASCE and IEEE standards for transmission line design.
• Performs PLS-Cadd modeling, line routing, structure spotting, structural analysis and design.
• Plans and designs overhead transmission lines with ROW considerations and foundations options.
• Prepares design documents for construction, including plans, profiles, BOMs and foundations.
• Interprets geotechnical reports for foundation design software such as L-PILE/MFAD.
• Designs projects under mentoring of senior licensed professionals.
• Coordinates with internal and external team members and attends client technical reviews.
• Travels to project sites to gather data and interface with clients.
