Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced transmission line engineer for a hybrid role in Indiana. You will design lines from 69 kV to 500 kV, perform cost analyses, routing, and siting, and collaborate with vendors and clients while leading a small project team.

Qualified candidates bring ABET‑accredited engineering degrees, 7+ years in project teams, and proficiency with PLS‑CADD and MS Office. Strong communication and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• ABET‑accredited engineering degree is required.
• Proficiency with PLS‑CADD for transmission line modeling.
• 7+ years in project-team roles with schedules and budget experience.
• Knowledge of right‑of‑way, conductor sag/tension, and plan drawings.
• Familiarity with design codes and standards (NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI 318).
• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Design transmission lines from 69 kV to 500 kV and develop design criteria.
• Perform cost analyses, routing, siting, and component specifications.
• Conduct conductor selection studies, shielding, grounding, and induction analyses.
• Collaborate with vendors/clients and direct a small project team.
• Mentor less experienced staff and interact with clients.
