Job summary

Southern Company in Georgia seeks a senior leader for the Transmission Line Design team within the Engineering Department. This role directs design, coordination, and documentation for transmission projects and supports construction, operations, and emergency restoration across Georgia, including ITS-related work.

The incumbent will shape a high-performing team, drive safety-first practices, and ensure adherence to Southern Company standards while coordinating capital project schedules.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering preferred (Civil/Mechanical/Electrical) or 4-year technical degree with experience.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead Transmission Line Design group to deliver projects on schedule and within standards.
• Develop engineering docs including preliminary design, drawings and BOMs.
• Coach and manage departmental staff in office and virtual settings.
• Support Southern Company activities and initiatives.
• Maintain knowledge of design standards and procedures.
• Schedule group activities for capital projects and meet deadlines.
• Provide technical support to maintenance and construction personnel.
