Job summary

Southern Company is seeking experienced Line Design Engineers to join our Transmission Engineering team in a hands-on role focused on high-voltage transmission line design and project execution. The position emphasizes PLS-CADD proficiency, adherence to industry standards, and collaboration with field staff and contractors.

Ideal candidates will have advanced transmission design skills, strong problem solving abilities, and the capacity to work independently while coordinating with plant staff

Qualifications

• HVTL design experience and strong technical knowledge.
• Familiarity with NESC standards and utility design practices.
• Experience coordinating with project teams, vendors, and field staff.

Responsibilities

• Apply engineering design criteria and PLS-CADD for HVTL design.
• Prepare construction specs, design options, and material estimates.
• Conduct QA reviews for line models and construction packages.
• Support HVTL system planning, design, operation, construction and maintenance.
• Ensure alignment with NESC and Southern Company standards.
