Job summary

The Lundquist Institute for Biomedical Innovation at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center seeks an experienced Staff Research Associate III to support human cancer translational research. You will independently perform and optimize molecular biology, proteomic, NGS, and cell culture assays, using human tissues and blood, and contribute to experiments and publications.

Collaborate with investigators and biostatisticians, train junior technicians, and develop new assay approaches while documenting methods

Qualifications

BS or MS in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cancer Biology, Biotechnology or related field.
4+ years of hands-on research laboratory experience.
Extensive experience with human cancer translational assays and handling human tissues and blood.
Proficiency in molecular biology techniques and proteomic/NGS assay setup.
Ability to train and lead junior laboratory staff while managing multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

Perform and optimize molecular biology, proteomic, NGS assays, cell culture and PCR-based assays in translational cancer research.
Process human tissues and blood per approved protocols and biosafety standards.
Set up, operate and maintain laboratory instruments and learn new assays.
Develop, validate and troubleshoot assay approaches aligned with research objectives.
Maintain accurate records, inventories, SOPs and quality-control documentation.
Collaborate with bioinformaticians/biostatisticians on data quality and analysis plans.
