Position Overview

HDR is seeking a Senior Transit Project Manager. This individual will lead and manage complex transit projects—including Bus, Bus Rapid Transit, Streetcar, Light Rail, Commuter Rail, or Transit Support Facilities. Projects will range from planning and preliminary engineering through final design and construction support. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing multidisciplinary teams and delivering high-profile transit infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the project manager or in project management support roles on major transit infrastructure projects.
• Manage project administration, including Document Controls, Procurement, Civil Rights, Project Controls, and Risk Management.
• Develop work scopes, negotiate contracts, and coordinate engineering design activities.
• Plan, organize, and manage project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
• Lead projects from proposal through design, specifications, and estimates.
• Coordinate workload through design development and construction document phases.
• Independently coordinate professional staff work and ensure project delivery within schedule and budget.
• Track financial aspects and adjust work efforts accordingly.
• Foster long-term client relationships through excellent service and delivery.
• Contribute to business development, including proposal preparation and client engagement.
• Assist clients with project management activities related to transit projects.
• Lead and manage transportation planning and engineering projects.
• Coordinate with governmental and private agencies involved in transit projects.
• Participate in reviews, meetings, and design discussions with clients and partners.
• Manage and mentor project teams, providing technical guidance and quality assurance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of transit and/or roadway engineering experience.
• At least 5 years managing complex transit projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Strong communication skills and proficiency in MS Office and Project.
• Ability to travel for client meetings and project oversight.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with alternative project delivery methods and program management.
• Active involvement in professional organizations.
• Experience with traffic and transit signal priority systems.
