Job summary

The City of Albuquerque is seeking a Principal Planner to direct, coordinate, and review complex planning projects within the Transit Department. You will lead critical initiatives, collaborate with the Mid-Region MPO, Bernalillo County, and other agencies, and guide staff through major development efforts including affordable housing projects and transit center upgrades.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in urban/regional planning or related field.
• Six years of managerial planning experience, including three years of supervisory responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Direct, coordinate, participate in and review planning activities and projects.
• Lead major planning initiatives and manage project teams.
• Coordinate with divisions, outside agencies and the public.
• Prepare staff reports and recommendations for senior management.
• Review development plans for alignment with long‑range goals.
• Support citywide planning goals and Vision Zero initiatives.
