Job summary

Sound Transit seeks a Senior Cost Estimator to prepare total construction cost estimates for large-scale transit projects, from preliminary design through final design. You will ensure alignment of scope, schedule, and costs, develop risk analyses, and support change orders and funding submittals.

The role requires five years of estimating experience, a strong background in project controls, and the ability to collaborate across multiple groups in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or related field.
• Five years of experience in developing project and construction cost estimates with risk assessment and cost databases.
• CEP or equivalent certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare total cost estimates at multiple design stages (30%–100%).
• Coordinate with design groups and site teams to confirm scope and costs.
• Analyze cost impacts of changes and track cost trends.
• Develop risk assessments, contingencies, and benchmark estimates.
• Lead estimate reviews and communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Mentor staff and consultants in cost engineering practices.
