Job summary

MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) is seeking a results-driven data analytics professional with strong SQL, Python, and R skills to deeply understand transit operations and business needs. The role focuses on gathering requirements, creating mockups, and developing Power BI and other standardized reports, with continuous improvement and audit of those reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; six years of progressively responsible experience in quantitative analysis, operations, project management, or related fields.
• Experience with data visualization software (Power BI or Tableau) and conducting advanced data analytics (multivariate stats, networks, forecasting, ML).
• Experience with data analysis software (R, Python).
• Experience with GIS software (ArcGIS, AGOL) is a plus.
• Advanced MS Excel knowledge preferred.
• Experience coding and managing databases (SQL, R, Python).
• Experience communicating effectively in writing and presentations to technical and non-technical partners.
• Expertise in creating and optimizing BI datasets and dashboards.
• Master’s/Doctorate preferred; public agency or transit industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Understand client needs and extract data using SQL for analysis.
• Collect and analyze data using SQL, Python, and R; identify trends and insights.
• Create intuitive data visualizations using Power BI, Python, and R.
• Evaluate data quality with SQL and implement data quality processes.
• Map legacy system objects and translate logic for self-service analytics.
• Support strategy implementation with SQL, Power BI, Python, and R.
• Manage all phases of BI: data exploration, automation, analysis, and reporting.
• Coordinate regular and ad hoc production of reports and memos.
