Job summary

OneBlood in Florida seeks a Transfusion Lab Manager to oversee day-to-day laboratory activities, staff scheduling, training, and quality initiatives. You will ensure accurate reporting of results and safe blood issuance while supervising Lab Assistants and Technologists in a compliant, efficient environment.

The role requires a Florida CL Supervisor license in Immunohematology or Blood Banking, with a SBB certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in medical technology, healthcare, chemistry, biology, biotechnology or related field from an accredited college or university.
• Five (5) or more years’ experience in a related field or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.
• Valid and current Florida Clinical Laboratory Supervisor license in Immunohematology or Blood Banking required.
• SBB certification preferred. In certain specialty laboratories performing HLA, molecular testing or patient testing, other Florida licenses may be required.
• Knowledge of federal and state regulations as they relate to quality assurance and regulatory affairs; ability to interpret and apply them.

Responsibilities

• Manages the operations of assigned area ensuring efficiency of workflow and continuity of services.
• Provides technical assistance and supervision for the daily operation of the laboratory including testing and component modification.
• Ensures that standards for compliance, use of equipment, and quality control are met as required by policies and accrediting agencies.
• Oversees employee orientation, competency testing and mandatory instruction.
• Develops and implements new SOPs and protocols.
• Oversees reporting, investigation of concerns, and corrective actions; maintains records.
• Provides supervision of Lab Assistants, Technicians and Technologists.
• Participates in vendor interactions to maintain equipment services and contracts.
• Participates in internal and external audits as required.
• Performs laboratory procedures and other departmental duties as required.
• Monitors testing processes to identify errors and implements preventive actions.
• Participates in on-call rotation.
