Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Senior Transformer Engineer to join our US engineering team. Based in the US—Nashville, Earth City, or remote—you’ll lead transformer-related design, field repair, and testing tasks, with travel up to 20% to support customers and projects nationwide.

You will mentor staff, review data, and deliver training sessions while ensuring compliance with IEEE, IEC, and NEMA standards across all activities.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering with 5+ years of transformer experience or equivalent.
Experience in design and execution as an electrical engineer focusing on transformers.
Knowledge of IEEE, IEC, and NEMA standards.
Experience repairing medium and large power oil-filled transformers from multiple OEMs.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

Provide expert solutions to technical inquiries from operations and quotation teams.
Serve as subject matter expert for field repair and testing of transformers.
Create and review test trip packs, validate test data, and compile reports.
Offer 24/7 technical support to field crews across US time zones.
Mentor and guide less experienced colleagues.
Conduct life and condition assessments, thermal studies, and internal inspections.
Participate in root cause analysis and develop repair scope of work procedures.
Prepare and present customer training sessions.
