Job Overview

Advise prospective transfer students on admissions requirements,credit transfer, and how to build a pathway to their educational,professional, and personal goals. May provide leadership for one ormore student programs or services within a unit.

Essential Functions
  • Provide academic advising to prospective transfer students tofacilitate their enrollment process in alignment with theireducational and career goals.
  • Ensure accurate advice and quality support, contributing topersistence and a positive student experience.
  • Evaluate student needs and support students through enrollmentprocesses (e.g. admissions, advising, orientation,registration).
  • Evaluate applications for transfer admission and make admissiondecisions using many pieces of information. Accuracy andconsistency will be needed to ensure the university is properlyaligned to reach various enrollment goals.
  • Serve and manage a designated transfer student population toensure the university reaches various transfer enrollment goalswhile being fiscally responsible. Serve as a primary resource fordesignated community college contacts.
  • Develop and execute initiatives that best serve designatedstudent populations and community college contacts. Makedata-driven decisions to coordinate and execute travel within thatarea to community colleges.
  • Travel during key time periods, occasional evenings/weekends toeffectively perform responsibilities.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and training tomaintain up-to-date knowledge about advising practices, policies,technologies, and student success needs at the university and inhigher education.
  • Use a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to maintainrecords and prepare reports as required; generate reports andassist in analyzing and interpreting data for future planning andevaluation.
  • Train new unit staff on key student service functions.
  • May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt andnon-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations,disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This jobdescription can be changed at any time.
Required Education

Bachelor's Degree

Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/orother specialized training can be used in lieu of educationrequirement.
