Job summary

Advanced Group in Cambridge, MA is seeking a Senior Research Associate to support transcriptomics research through NGS workflows and related sample processing. You will ensure high-quality data generation, operational excellence, and continuous improvement while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

The role emphasizes hands-on sequencing, library prep, QC, and data reporting, with opportunities to train staff and advance technologies in a fast-paced lab setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Genomics, Biology, or related field.
• Hands-on experience with NGS workflows including RNA isolation, library preparation, sequencing, and QC.
• Experience supporting transcriptomics or genomics research programs.
• Strong lab troubleshooting, organization, and documentation skills.
• Experience maintaining accurate sample records and laboratory data.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Support transcriptomics studies using bulk RNA sequencing, small RNA sequencing, long-read sequencing, single-cell, spatial methodologies.
• Perform RNA isolation, library preparation, QC, sequencing, and related sample processing activities.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot NGS instrumentation and lab equipment.
• Manage sample tracking, logistics, and data collection workflows.
• Prepare protocols, technical documentation, and data reports.
• Support development and optimization of new technologies and workflows.
• Troubleshoot issues and contribute to process improvements.
• Train and assist laboratory personnel as needed.
• Adapt to evolving project priorities and platform needs.
