Job summary

AbbVie in Chicago seeks an Associate General Counsel, Transactions, to join the Business Development and Acquisitions team. You will draft and negotiate mergers, acquisitions, licenses and collaborations, providing clear legal advice across a cross-functional client base.

You should bring 15+ years of transactional experience, especially in pharma licensing and collaborations, with strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage complex deals across jurisdictions.

Qualifications

• Excellent legal analysis skills and crisp, concise communicator.
• Strong negotiating skills, and an ability to independently manage complex transactions.
• Experience advising on ongoing complex contractual relationships (development collaborations).
• Experience with drafting and negotiating complex pharmaceutical licensing and collaboration transactions.

Responsibilities

• Identify and resolve highly complex legal issues and draft/negotiate highly complex corporate transactions.
• Provide clear legal advice on mergers, acquisitions, licenses and collaborations across a cross-functional client base.
• Select and direct outside counsel; manage projects and ensure compliance with policies.
