Job summary

Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) seeks a Training and Development Specialist V to facilitate and oversee state-wide training programs in both classroom and virtual formats. The role emphasizes adult learning principles, consistent curriculum delivery, and collaboration with instructional designers and leadership.

The position supports workforce development across DFPS, ensuring accessibility, accurate record-keeping, and alignment with agency goals while coordinating

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of CPS/CPI casework experience or 2 years as CLOE/Learning and Development trainer with 3 years field experience.
• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in social work, education, or related field OR 60 accredited college credit hours plus CPI/CPS experience.
• Experience in supervision within CPS/CPI programs is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Delivers training in classroom, distance learning, or eLearn environments.
• Leads virtual refresher and compliance training statewide to reinforce policy updates.
• Coordinates workshops in person and online, tailoring content to audience background.
• Prepares materials and supplies for training courses and ensures training environments are ready.
• Maintains training calendars, rosters, and attendance records for compliance.
