Sonsray Fleet is seeking an experienced Trailer Technician in Carlstadt, NJ to inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair trailers and related systems for safe operation. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with air brake and electrical systems, lift gates, and DOT/BIT inspections, and can work independently in a fast-paced shop while prioritizing safety and quality workmanship.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as a Trailer Technician or related heavy-duty repair role.
• Strong knowledge of trailer systems, air brakes, and electrical systems.
• Experience with lift gates, rail, or hydraulic systems preferred.
• Familiarity with DOT/BIT/PM inspections.
• Valid driver's license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform trailer PM, BIT, and DOT inspections.
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair trailer lighting and electrical systems.
• Troubleshoot electrical shorts, open circuits, and faulty components.
• Inspect and repair air brake systems and components.
• Measure brake lining thickness and inspect drums and tanks.
• Maintain lift-gate and rail systems, including hydraulics.
• Repair or replace damaged trailer parts.
• Conduct QA checks to meet safety standards.
• Maintain records of maintenance, inspections, and repairs.
• Operate tools and shop equipment safely.
• Keep a clean, safe work area following OSHA guidelines.
• Collaborate with service team and support dealership operations.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
