Job summary

CHA Consulting, Inc. seeks a Senior Traffic Engineer to join the Traffic & ITS Team across New York City, Albany, Parsippany, Syracuse, or Buffalo. You will lead complex transportation engineering efforts, mentor junior staff, and shape technical direction for safer, smarter mobility.

You’ll apply deep expertise in traffic operations, planning, and modeling to deliver high‑quality projects, coordinate with clients and agencies, and contribute to proposals and presentations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required; PTOE preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive traffic engineering experience.
• Experience in transportation planning, design, and implementation.
• Strong knowledge of QA/QC procedures and applicable regulations.
• Advanced proficiency with engineering, computation, and modeling software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.).
• Experience with SYNCHRO and HCS; VISSIM and Viswalk preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Participation in professional engineering societies (ITE, ASCE) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as senior technical lead and primary contact for complex transportation engineering assignments.
• Perform advanced traffic engineering analyses including studies, forecasting, and multimodal analyses.
• Lead large-scale studies and redevelopment efforts; coordinate with teams, consultants, and agencies.
• Support airport roadway analyses, corridor studies, and network-level evaluations.
• Guide and mentor junior staff; provide technical oversight and QA/QC review.
• Support proposal development, client presentations, and technical discussions with stakeholders.
