Job summary

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission seeks a Manager of Traffic Engineering to oversee traffic engineering activities and staff across the toll road system. This role operates with considerable independence and reports to a professional supervisor to achieve program goals.

Supervision extends to internal staff and external consultants. Responsibilities include directing traffic-control plans, coordinating ITS projects, and reviewing crash data to identify safety improvements.

Qualifications

• Eight (8) years of experience in traffic engineering; PE license required.
• Four (4) years in a supervisory capacity over internal/external professionals.
• PTOE certification preferred.
• Must obtain and maintain a PA driver’s license within six months.

Responsibilities

• Directs, plans, and organizes traffic engineering operations and staff functions.
• Develops traffic-control plans and specifications for construction personnel and contractors.
• Oversees crash data reviews and recommends safety improvements.
• Develops procedures, plans, specifications, estimates, and standards for traffic movement.
• Coordinates ITS technologies and deployment with Traffic Operations.
• Reviews toll schedules and traffic/revenue studies for toll changes.
