Job summary

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission is seeking a Manager of Traffic Engineering in Middletown, PA. This leadership role oversees traffic engineering operations, staff supervision, and coordination with state and local authorities to ensure safe, efficient movement across the toll road system.

The role requires a PE license, 8 years in traffic engineering with 4 in supervision, and preferred PTOE certification. Hybrid work options are available, with 24/7 TOC readiness for incident response.

Qualifications

• Eight (8) years of experience in traffic engineering.
• Four (4) of the years of experience must be in a supervisory capacity over internal and/or external professionals.
• Possession of PTOE certification is preferred.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license and must obtain Pennsylvania driver’s license within six (6) months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Directs, plans, and organizes traffic engineering operations and staff functions.
• Develops and directs the implementation of traffic-control plans and specifications.
• Oversees the review of crash data and recommends safety improvements.
• Develops procedures, plans, specifications, estimates, and standards for traffic movement.
• Coordinates ITS technologies planning and deployment.
• Develops toll schedules and traffic/revenue studies for toll changes.
• Reviews customer complaints related to signing and traffic safety issues.
• Coordinates with PennDOT, FHWA and local authorities on traffic policies.
