Job summary

New Mexico Department of Transportation seeks a licensed professional engineer to oversee the District Traffic Section and manage access for new developments. The role includes maintaining traffic operations across state rights-of-way, reviewing project scopes, and developing construction and maintenance plans for new projects.

You will analyze road segments and intersections, prepare technical reports, and coordinate with federal and local agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline with licensure.
• Five years of engineering experience required, one year as a PE preferred.
• If needed, nine years combined education/experience may substitute for the formal education/experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the District Traffic Section.
• Manage Access Management and permitting for new developments.
• Maintain traffic within State rights-of-way including guardrails, signing, striping, pavement markings, signals, and other roadway features.
• Conduct proactive analysis and evaluation of road segments and intersections; review scoping reports for planned projects.
• Develop and/or review construction and maintenance plans for new projects; provide input to scoping reports.
