Job summary

The New Mexico Department of Transportation Bridge Bureau is seeking a skilled engineer to assist in designing and providing bridge and structural plans for statewide highway projects. You will support district offices, review shop drawings for conformance, and help manage project scope and costs.

A BS in engineering and a Professional Engineer license (or eligibility) are required, along with experience in bridge analysis and design and proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Excel, and Mathcad.

Qualifications

• Bridge engineering experience such as bridge analysis and design and bridge load rating.
• Effective and proficient oral and written communication skills.
• License: Professional Engineer in good standing (NM) or ability to obtain within six months.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Bridge Engineering Manager with designing, preparing, and providing bridge and structural plans for statewide highway projects.
• Review fabricator shop drawings for conformance with contract documents and project specs.
• Determine scope of work and appropriate costs for bridge items.
• Support NMDOT District offices on bridge/structural needs and project coordination.
• Ensure drawings and details meet contract requirements and review readiness for distribution.
