Job summary

New Mexico Department of Transportation in Albuquerque area is seeking a staff member to assist with data collection for traffic studies, including counts, speeds, and pedestrian movements. This position reviews and processes permits and oversees the district's Adopt-A-Highway program.

The role supports inspecting pavement markings, setting up work orders for roadside maintenance, and maintaining the signing inventory, with field and office work and travel as required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and three months of related experience; substitutions allowed per education/experience mix.
• Experience in highway maintenance, construction, engineering, physical science, mathematics, surveying, drafting, highway design, traffic engineering, communications, dispatching, permits, or purchase orders.
• Driver's license required within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Collect data for traffic studies, including counts and speed studies.
• Review and process work permits and manage the district's Adopt-A-Highway program.
• Inspect pavement markings and supervise guardrail repairs.
• Maintain the district's signing inventory and issue work orders for roadside maintenance.
• Set up message boards and support Construction and Maintenance sections.
• Work in the Traffic section; duties performed in field or office with travel.
