Job summary

Wilson & Company, Inc., Engineers & Architects, is seeking a full-time Senior Traffic Engineer to join our Midwest transportation planning and engineering team in Kansas City. The role leads traffic design projects, safety evaluations, and multimodal facility analyses for state and local agency clients, with exposure to design-build opportunities.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in traffic engineering, PE licensure, and proficiency with Synchro/VISSIM, GIS, and CAD tools, plus strong

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; Master’s degree preferred but not required.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in applicable states or ability to obtain licensure within six months.
• 10+ years of experience in traffic engineering and design; PTOE/RSP certifications preferred.
• Proficiency with traffic simulation software (Synchro, VISSIM), GIS, and CAD tools (MicroStation/AutoCAD).

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage traffic design and traffic operation projects and tasks.
• Provide design oversight for roadway lighting, signing, pavement marking, signals, and ITS systems.
• Develop technical traffic analyses for highways and multimodal facilities.
• Oversee MOT and sequencing plans during construction.
• Perform safety analyses and identify countermeasures.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, QA/QC, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
• Assist in proposals and client relationship management.
