Job summary

Horrocks in Reno, NV is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer to lead a traffic team across MOT, signing, signals, ITS, and lighting for transportation projects. You will oversee design, prepare studies, and mentor junior staff, ensuring compliance with MUTCD and agency standards.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor of Civil Engineering, PE license (PTOE preferred), 8–12+ years of experience, and strong communication and client service skills. We offer unmatched compensation and strong benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university.
• PE licensure; PTOE certification preferred.
• 8-12+ years’ experience in traffic analysis and traffic engineering design.
• Experience with DOT and Local Agency procedures and standards.
• Experience with MUTCD, FHWA, AASHTO guidance and local agency design criteria.

Responsibilities

• Manage and deliver MOT phasing, signing, striping, and traffic control plans.
• Lead traffic design assignments with quality control and standards compliance.
• Prepare studies, reports, construction plans, specifications, and estimates.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to support projects and business development.
• Aid in mentoring junior staff across traffic disciplines.
