Baxter & Woodman invites a seasoned Traffic Engineer Technical Lead to join our nationwide team, delivering leadership across traffic projects and transportation planning. The role emphasizes technical oversight, mentorship, and collaboration with State, County, Municipal, and private-sector clients.

The position requires 15+ years in traffic engineering, strong planning and signal design knowledge, and willingness to travel across Illinois, Wisconsin, Florida, and Texas.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressive traffic engineering and transportation experience.
• Strong knowledge of traffic operations, safety, signal systems, and planning principles.
• Experience reviewing and leading traffic impact studies and signal improvements.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for traffic engineering and transportation planning projects.
• Lead and review traffic impact studies, analyses, and corridor evaluations.
• Prepare traffic signal designs, signing and pavement marking plans, and maintenance of traffic documents.
• Serve as a technical resource and mentor to engineering staff.
• Participate in project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and QA/QC reviews.
• Assist with proposals, client presentations, and business development activities.
• Support growth initiatives within the transportation practice.
• Develop and implement QA/QC standards to improve consistency and efficiency.
• Stay current on FHWA guidance, MUTCD and industry best practices.
