Job summary

Baxter & Woodman is seeking a Traffic Engineer Technical Lead to guide complex transportation projects across multiple states. The role combines technical leadership, quality oversight, and strategic mentorship for a national service area, working with state, county, municipal, and private clients.

You will shape traffic studies, signal designs, and corridor analyses while fostering cross‑disciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 15+ years of progressive traffic engineering and transportation experience.
• Strong knowledge of traffic operations, traffic safety, signal systems, and planning.
• Ability to travel throughout Illinois service areas and attend meetings.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and oversight for traffic engineering and transportation planning projects.
• Lead and review traffic impact studies, analyses, signal warrants, and corridor evaluations.
• Lead or review preparation of signal designs, signing and pavement marking plans, MOT plans, and related docs.
• Serve as a technical resource and mentor to engineering staff.
