Job summary

Econolite Group, Inc. is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer to plan, design, and optimize traffic signal operations for intersections and corridors. You will support deployment of Centracs Mobility and mentor junior engineers while ensuring client satisfaction.

The role demands strong engineering expertise, field experience, and the ability to communicate with agency customers across projects. Tampa-based office with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering or related field; Master’s preferred.
• 8–15 years of progressive experience in traffic engineering or ITS.
• Experience developing, deploying, and validating traffic signal timing plans for public agencies.
• Expert knowledge of traffic signal operations, coordination principles, and timing plan development.
• Proficiency with traffic engineering software including Synchro, SimTraffic, PTV Vissim, Visum, and Vistro.
• Experience with ATMS/Centracs Mobility or similar platforms.
• Strong communication and leadership in client-facing roles.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% and hold a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Serve as trusted technical advisor through project lifecycle for agencies and stakeholders.
• Develop, implement, and optimize signal timing plans for intersections and corridors.
• Conduct operations analyses using Centracs Mobility, Vissim, Vistro, and other tools.
• Evaluate performance and validate improvements with field data and CMS data.
• Support detection systems, transit priority, and multimodal strategies.
• Lead design reviews, pilots, and development of operational concepts.
• Deliver technical training and customer support to agency personnel.
• Collaborate with project managers and QA teams to ensure project success.
• Prepare technical reports detailing scope, configuration, and outcomes.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across teams.
• Maintain clear communication with customers and stakeholders throughout delivery.
• Assist in testing and successful system implementation.
