Job summary

The City of Napa seeks a Senior Traffic Engineer to lead the Transportation Engineering Division, guiding planning, safety, and traffic management for all modes of travel. You will manage a five-person team in a dynamic Public Works environment.

Ideal candidates combine technical expertise with strong leadership, collaboration, and project management skills, supporting neighborhood traffic calming and countywide planning efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Traffic Engineering or closely related field.
• Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience as a professional engineer in Traffic/Transportation Engineering, including supervisory responsibilities.
• Registration as a Professional Traffic Engineer or Civil Engineer in California with good standing.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Transportation Engineering Division as Manager, directing five full-time staff.
• Oversee transportation planning, traffic engineering, and traffic safety for all modes of travel.
• Coordinate private development review related to traffic engineering and respond to traffic inquiries; drive Vision Zero and safety initiatives.
