Job summary

The City of Vallejo is seeking an experienced Traffic Engineer to lead major traffic planning and safety initiatives. You will supervise professional and technical staff, coordinate with City departments, and review development proposals affecting traffic and parking.

Knowledge of CA standards and CEQA/NEPA processes is essential. Ideal candidates will have five years in traffic/transportation engineering, a relevant civil engineering background, and CA PE or equivalent qualifications.

Qualifications

• Five years of traffic or transportation engineering experience in a public works setting.
• Registration as a Professional Traffic Engineer in California preferred; or Professional Civil Engineer with traffic experience.
• Knowledge of Caltrans/ DMV standards, CEQA/NEPA, and traffic modeling software.

Responsibilities

• Lead city-wide traffic planning, safety and control programs and oversee related projects.
• Analyze transportation issues and prepare studies including LOS, VMT, and signal coordination.
• Design and modify traffic control systems and prepare plans/specifications/estimates.
• Review development plans for traffic impact and coordinate CEQA/NEPA elements.
• Coordinate with officials, contractors and staff; prepare reports and presentations.
• Oversee contracts with traffic and transportation consultants; supervise staff.
