Job summary

Stanley Consultants seeks a Senior Traffic Engineer to support our Traffic Engineering and Safety practices, primarily in Des Moines, IA, with flexible work options. The role involves leading traffic and safety projects, preparing signal and roadway lighting plans, and conducting impact and safety studies.

The ideal candidate has 8–10 years of experience, an Iowa PE license, and proficiency with traffic analysis software (VISSIM a plus). Strong client service and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering required.
• 8–10 years in traffic engineering or related fields.
• Iowa PE license required; MUTCD familiarity and DOT/local standards preferred.
• Proficiency with traffic analysis software; microsimulation a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop innovative traffic engineering solutions and build client relationships.
• Design and prepare traffic signal plans for intersections, including sequencing and signage.
• Create roadway lighting plans, ITS interconnects, and related infrastructure.
• Conduct traffic impact studies, signal warrants, safety and bicycle/pedestrian planning studies.
• Provide technical guidance and QA for projects; mentor junior engineers.
