Job summary

LJB Inc. is expanding its Transportation Practice in Ohio and seeks a Senior Traffic Engineer to advance traffic engineering projects across Dayton, Cleveland, or Columbus. You will lead studies, analyses, and design tasks while overseeing client relationships and project delivery.

The role requires a PE license and 7–15 years of experience, with strong skills in Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, SIDRA, and related tools. PTOE is preferred, and travel to sites is expected as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and P.E. license required.
• 7 to 15 years’ experience in traffic engineering.
• Experience with traffic impact studies and signal design.
• Proficiency with Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, SIDRA and related software.
• Knowledge of highway safety standards and transportation planning practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead traffic impact studies and operations analyses.
• Develop signal timing plans and maintain traffic operations.
• Manage projects and client relationships.
• Visit work sites and report progress; travel may be required.

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Traffic Engineer to support and grow our Transportation Practice in one of our Ohio offices (Dayton, Cleveland, or Columbus).

Salary Range: $114,000 - $140,000 based upon experience, certifications, and regional market standards.

Traffic Engineer Essential Functions

• Technical engineering responsibilities may include:
• Traffic impact studies
• Traffic operations analyses
• Safety studies
• Signal system design
• Signal timing plans
• Maintenance of traffic
• Pavement markings and signage
• Highway lighting design
• Corridor studies
• Willing to balance performing design work and assisting in sales efforts.
• Project/task and client management.
• Maintain client relationships.
• Occasionally visit work sites, monitoring project progress and reporting findings.
• Ability to meet all safety requirements if/when visiting a work site.
• Occasional travel may be required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Traffic Engineer- Essential Credentials

Required Qualifications Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• P.E. license.
• 7 to 15 years’ experience.
• Experience with Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, SIDRA, TransModeler, VISSIM,
• AutoCAD/MicroStation/Geopak/Open Roads Designer and Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of the Highway Capacity Manual.

Preferred Qualifications

• PTOE license
• Experience with Travel Demand Modeling Software (TransCAD, CUBE), ArcGIS, SignCAD.
• Experience with ODOT and/or OH municipalities.

• Ability to work in a team setting collaboratively with a group of traffic, transportation, and site/civil engineers.
• Ability to mentor, direct activities and supervise work of other engineers.
• Ability to identify project issues and facilitate resolution.
• Ability to analyze situations and identify ways to improve efficiency.
• Ability to react quickly and calmly to high-pressure situations.
