Job summary

LJB Inc. in Ohio seeks a Mid-level Traffic Engineer to support and grow our Transportation Practice in Dayton, Cleveland, or Columbus offices. You will perform traffic impact studies, assist with signal timing, and contribute to safety analyses while building strong client relationships.

This role offers the chance to work on meaningful infrastructure projects across Ohio, collaborate with senior engineers, and progress toward PE licensure while gaining experience with DOTs and industry tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering is required.
  • P.E. license is required.
  • 4+ years of experience in traffic/transportation engineering.
  • Experience with traffic studies, signal timing, and CAD/traffic tools.

Responsibilities

  • Perform traffic impact studies and traffic operations analyses.
  • Contribute to safety studies and signal system design.
  • Develop and review signal timing plans and maintenance of traffic.
  • Maintain client relationships and collaborate with other engineers.
  • Occasionally visit work sites and report findings.

We are currently seeking an experienced Mid-level Traffic Engineer to support and grow our Transportation Practice in one of our Ohio offices (Dayton, Cleveland, or Columbus).

Salary Range: $95,000-135,000 based upon experience, certifications, and regional market standards.

Traffic Engineer Essential Functions
  • Technical engineering responsibilities may include:
    • Traffic impact studies
    • Traffic operations analyses
    • Safety studies
    • Signal system design
    • Signal timing plans
    • Maintenance of traffic
    • Pavement markings and signage
    • Highway lighting design
    • Corridor studies
  • Ability to identify project issues and facilitate resolution.
  • Ability to analyze situations and identify ways to improve efficiency.
  • Project/task management.
  • Maintain client relationships.
  • Ability to work in a team setting collaboratively with groups of other traffic and transportation/civil engineers.
  • Occasionally visit work sites, monitoring project progress and reports findings.
  • Ability to meet all safety requirements if/when visiting a work site.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Traffic Engineer- Essential Credentials
Required Qualifications Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  • P.E. license
  • 4+ years of experience
  • Experience with tools such as Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, SIDRA, TransModeler, AutoCAD/Open Roads Designer and Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PTOE certification.
  • Experience working with state DOTs .
  • Knowledge of the Highway Capacity Manual and ODOT Analysis and Traffic Simulation (OATS) Manual.
Core Skills
  • Strong technical background with good client relationships.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
