Traffic Department Manager, Sr. Project Manager

About Compass:

Founded in 2020, Compass Infrastructure Group offers civil engineering design and project management services, specializing in bridge, highway, and traffic design, safety studies, inspections, transportation planning, constructability, and other transportation-related services. Compass has grown to over 42 employees and is a consultant on transportation projects primarily for public clients, including ODOT and local governments throughout Ohio. As a result of our success, we have worked on over 100 transportation projects in four years and have developed a steady backlog of diverse and exciting transportation projects.

Job Description:

You will be a critical technical and leadership resource in the firm's traffic practice. Your role will involve leading traffic tasks, ensuring quality control, and actively pursuing opportunities for personal skill development while mentoring other staff members. Given the firm’s impressive growth trajectory, this position presents exceptional prospects for advancing your career.

Depending on experience, Technical Responsibilities may include:

· Leading or executing traffic tasks related to studies, design, and project planning

· Conduct analysis and modeling for planning, interchange, multimodal, ITS, and other studies

· Generating reports and technical memos to document and communicate analysis and findings

· Perform traffic design for maintenance of traffic, traffic control, signal, and/or lighting plans

· Ensure quality assurance by implementing Compass’s quality control procedures

· Establish and implement standard practices and procedures for traffic projects

· Provide mentorship to new staff members as the firm continues to grow

Additional responsibilities will depend on the candidate’s experience, but may include:

· Ensure adherence to scope, budget, and schedule for traffic tasks

· Engage in proposal development and client development meetings

· Collaborate on defining project scope and fee structure

· Fulfill the role of task manager or project manager

· Consult on the hiring process for future staff members

What You Bring:

· Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Civil Engineering

· Licensed Professional Engineer in Ohio

· 8+ years in the transportation industry

· Proven or emerging experience in traffic design plan development

· Experience with traffic analysis software is preferred

· Ability to work independently and handle design/study tasks

· Experience with MicroStation is a plus.

· Strong analytical and critical thinking skills

· Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment

· Willingness to adapt and learn new skills

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Cooperative, team-oriented spirit

· Desire and flexibility to work both in the office and the field when necessary
