Overview

Seeking a new career challenge? Woolpert is hiring a Senior Traffic Engineer to join our Infrastructure team at our Ohio offices. This role reports to the Engineer Project Manager and involves working on traffic impact studies, safety studies, signal/lighting design, and maintenance of traffic plans. Candidates should have a BA in Civil Engineering, with priority given to those holding a PTOE certification. The role involves leading projects, guiding less experienced staff, and performing QA/QC reviews. The position offers a hybrid work environment and can be based in any Ohio office.

Responsibilities

• Manage traffic projects of varying size and complexity.
• Oversee staff plans, schedules, and budgets.
• Develop traffic signal designs, studies, safety plans, signing, and pavement markings.
• Prepare technical reports and clear client-facing documents.
• Follow client standards from public and private sectors.
• Review work prepared by others.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• BA in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of relevant experience.
• PE license with ability to obtain Ohio licensure within 1 year.
• Experience in traffic studies, signal timing, pavement markings, ITS, lighting design, etc.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D or Microsoft ORD.
• Familiarity with traffic analysis software like HCS or Synchro.

Preferred Skills and Abilities

• PTOE certification.
• Experience in Ohio, Indiana, or Texas traffic projects.
• Ability to lead projects, manage budgets, and coordinate teams.
• Comfort speaking with clients and subconsultants.
• Ability to train less experienced staff (not personnel management).
• Some field work experience is a plus.
