The primary duties of the Senior Traffic Engineer include working collaboratively with a traffic team on various traffic analysis needs for transportation projects. This position focuses on traffic analysis, utilizing a range of modeling tools from Synchro to complex microsimulation models like VISSIM to analyze traffic scenarios, including signalized intersections, roundabouts, urban arterials, and freeway segments. The candidate should have experience leading or performing traffic analyses and developing and delivering reports to evaluate roadway capacity, operational analysis, and signal warrant analyses. Additionally, the candidate should be adept at presenting results to key stakeholders and working collaboratively with multi-discipline teams.

The candidate will plan, organize, supervise, and review the work of staff professionals and technicians. They must function as a technical specialist, task lead, or project manager on projects. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proven team leadership, strong written and oral communication skills, and a desire to grow professionally as a project manager within a seller-doer business environment. Our ideal candidate also has strong leadership skills and the ability to build trust with clients and project stakeholders. This position will leverage the candidate's experience to lead specialized and multidisciplinary project teams.

In the role of Senior Engineer Traffic, we'll count on you to:

  • Assist in providing oversight of the traffic control and sequencing plans throughout the construction phase of the project
  • Serve as a technical expert with recognized authority in an area of specialization that resolves problems of greater scope and complexity while planning and developing projects or design activities that have significant impact on major company programs
  • Organize and supervise work of medium to large staff of professionals and technicians as needed
  • Serve as project manager on larger projects, though project management is not sole focus of position as needed
  • Perform other duties as needed

• Proficiency with traffic operational analysis software including Synchro and Highway Capacity Software (HCS), Sidra, VISUM, VISSIM, and other traffic analysis software is preferred.
• Experience with modeling transit operation and transit signal priority in VISSIM is desirable.
