We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Trade Compliance professional to join the company’s International Trade Compliance (ITC) group.
This is a hybrid position based in San Diego, CA, Washington D.C. or another General Atomics office location in the United States; successful candidate not based in San Diego will be required to travel to San Diego occasionally for meetings, training, etc.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Providing International Trade Compliance (ITC) support to internal customers: programs and activities within the business with requirements involving global trade. The expectation is relative self-sufficiency in the process of guiding programs to develop and manage compliant execution of their international activities.
- Establishing, interprets and implements policies and procedures and ensures compliance with requirements for license generation and tracking and tracks submitted licenses throughout U.S.
- Government review and approval processes; ensures timelines meet with contract requirements. Develops and coordinates internal compliance training; develops and maintains associated documentation.
- Represents the organization with internal and external worldwide import/export operations, organizations and government representatives.
- Provides direction to administrative staff.
- Develops and manages activities related to export licenses in support of international business development activities; resolves complex issues
- Develops accurate databases, documentation and reports to reflect import/export activities.
- Establishes and implements policies and procedures and ensures compliance with requirements for license generation tracking and record keeping; tracks submitted licenses throughout U.S. Government review and approval processes; ensures timelines meet with contract requirements.
- Represents the organization as the primary contact with internal and external customers and government representatives.
- Ensures compliance to foreign and domestic laws and regulations regarding all import/export activities; oversees and participates in internal and external audits.
- Develops and coordinates internal compliance training; maintains associated documentation.
- Maintains an awareness of regulatory changes or rulings and their impact on import/exports; analyzes special programs and recommends changes to existing programs or implementations of new programs; identifies import/export issues and provides leadership in developing solutions.
- Provides direction to administrative staff.
- Responsible for ensuring all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations are observed wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
- Responsible for ensuring work is accomplished in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices Additional Functions Other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications
- Typically requires a Bachelors or Masters degree in Business Administration, Engineering or related field and ten or more years progressively complex experience with a Bachelors or eight or more years progressive experience with a Masters, in import/export administration Additional professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
- At this hiring level, this position requires a bachelor’s degree with 10 or more years of progressively complex experience in International Trade Compliance (ITC), or a master’s degree with 8 or more years of progressively complex ITC experience.
- The successful candidate must demonstrate a thorough understanding and application of import/export administration and licensing principles, theories, practices and concepts; and leadership skills including organizing, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating work assignments to meet project milestones or established completion dates. Must possess the ability to contribute to the development of new concepts, processes, techniques and standards; resolve a variety of moderately complex administrative and technical matters and; demonstrate excellent working knowledge of International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), US Customs regulations and Harmonized Tariff Schedules (HTS).

Job Type: Full-Time Salary
Salary range: 89,180 - 155,825
