Job summary

ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions is seeking a Trade Compliance Specialist to collaborate with stakeholders across multiple manufacturing facilities and standardize processes to deliver compliant results.

The role requires 7+ years of trade compliance, strong data handling skills in MS Excel, and the ability to work onsite at designated locations in New Haven, CT; Berlin, CT; Phoenix, AZ; Somerset, PA; Salem, VA; Lake Forest, CA; and Charlotte, NC. Travel up to 15% is anticipated.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in International Affairs/Trade, International Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or another related field is required.
• 7+ years of Trade Compliance experience.
• Hands-on experience in manipulating data using MS Excel - v-lookups and Pivot Tables.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
• Must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively with the team.
• Travel up to 15% to visit sister-company sites mainly in North America and meet with local staff who support trade compliance activities.

Responsibilities

• As part of the Trade Compliance team you will act as one of the primary points of contact and go to Subject Matter Expert between 18+ sites.
• Manage relationships with customs brokers while conducting broker audits for import and export.
• Process requests from customers, suppliers, brokers, and customs authorities.
• Build rapport with ASSA ABLOY factories and handle day-to day trade compliance issues while working to get ahead of delayed shipments.
• Assist the Trade Compliance Specialist who has a focus in Classification with reviewing and updating harmonized tariff (HTS) codes for all products.
• Support Free Trade Agreements to ensure annual collection of country-of-origin information from suppliers and certificate of origin are in place.
• Support the tracking and declaring of Assists or Value Reconciliation to customs authorities.
• Apply knowledge of customs regulations and participating government agency requirements across Mexico, Canada, and the U.S. to a variety of products.
• Utilize your knowledge of Free Trade Agreements such as USMCA and KORUS.
• Familiarity with China Section 301 tariffs and other duty programs while tracking changes.
• Stay abreast of antidumping & countervailing duty investigations, orders that can affect ASSA ABLOY products working with teams to determine potential product changes to avoid duties.
• Leverage cross-functional relationships to gain information in order to make effective business decisions.
• Handle incoming government inquiries and/or requests, such as CF-28s.
• Utilize your expertise in the industry to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, such as engineering, purchasing, and manufacturing to obtain the information required to make Free Trade determinations.
