Job description

Amazon is seeking an innovative, high-judgment Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) to join the Regulation Tech & Assurance (RTA) team within Amazon Privacy (Security). We own Responsible AI (RAI) programs that deliver technical governance solutions ensuring compliance with high-impact, urgent AI regulation across Amazon services worldwide — including the EU AI Act, U.S. state-level AI laws (e.g., Colorado SB 189 ADMT requirements), and emerging international frameworks such as South Korea's AI Basic Act.

The Senior TPM will operate at the intersection of AI regulation, data governance, and technical implementation — translating complex legal obligations into enforceable controls, scalable compliance architectures, and measurable outcomes. You will work across Amazon's decentralized business structure to ensure consistent AI governance that delivers on four pan-Amazon outcomes: Quality, Compliance, Assurance, and Speed. This will require helping to frame, and participating in, high judgment debates and decision making across senior business, technology, legal, and public policy leaders.

Key job responsibilities
  1. 1. RAI Controls SME — Own expertise in Amazon's AI governance controls: data lineage, broker registration, source-based exclusions, opt-out enforcement, and data retention. Maintain working knowledge of EU AI Act categories (GPAI, High-Risk AI Systems, Article 50 transparency/watermarking, prohibited practices) and emerging U.S. state AI regulations.
  2. 2. End-to-End Technical Design — Lead cross-functional design across infrastructure and business teams to architect compliance solutions. Define how requirements flow from policy → standards → control objectives → automated enforcement, driving toward zero-touch compliance.
  3. 3. Implementation & Delivery — Drive execution across Legal, AI Security, Privacy, and engineering teams. Own work-back plans against regulatory effective dates, manage dependencies, track risks/blockers, and ensure demonstrable compliance posture for regulators and auditors.
  4. 4. Regulatory Interpretation & Strategy — Participate in high-judgment debates across senior business, technology, legal, and public policy leaders on ambiguous requirements (e.g., HRAIS classification, training data disclosure obligations, deemed provider scope). Translate legal interpretations into implementable technical requirements.
  5. 5. Cross-Pillar Governance — Partner across RTA's Security, Privacy, and RAI pillars to drive a unified operating model with consistent policy hierarchy, shared assurance tooling, and holistic compliance reporting.
