Job summary

Exponent is seeking a Principal Toxicologist (Ph.D.) to lead multidisciplinary toxicology projects across litigation support, risk assessment, and regulatory work. You will guide teams, expand client relationships, and contribute to the firm’s scientific leadership and business growth.

The role entails delivering scientifically rigorous evaluations, leveraging data science tools, and communicating complex risks to diverse audiences while advancing Exponent’s Health Sciences practice.

Qualifications

• PhD in Toxicology or a related scientific field.
• Minimum of 8 years of consulting experience in toxicology.
• Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology (DABT).
• Excellent verbal and written communication with diverse audiences.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and develop staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects, identify new clients, and expand relationships with clients.
• Provide high-level scientific and strategic advice to internal and external stakeholders.
• Oversee budget, planning, and timely delivery of toxicology projects.
• Mentor and develop technical staff toward leadership roles.
• Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences.
• Support regulatory documents and risk assessments for products and chemicals.
• Contribute to business development in health sciences areas.
