Job summary

Amsted Automotive Group, TransForm Products, is seeking a Tooling Engineer to support new projects, plant operations and cost-reduction initiatives. You will design tooling fixtures, gauges and mechanisms and develop blueprints for tooling designs using CAD or AutoCAD to meet customer specifications, including a 1500 Ton+ stamping environment requirement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 3+ years of engineering experience, preferably in heavy industrial setting.
• Knowledge about tool steels and PVD coating selections.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with others as needed.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills.

Responsibilities

• Design tooling fixtures, gauges and mechanisms for manufacturing purposes.
• Develop blueprints for new and existing tooling designs as per specifications.
• Utilize CAD or AutoCAD to analyze and improve tooling designs.
• Obtain cost estimates from outside sources for tooling and machine components.
• Prepare detailed drawings of tools and dies to maximize productivity and part quality.
• Collaborate with colleagues and implement feedback in new designs.
• Coordinate with Engineering and other departments for cost-reduction and interface with die shops.
• Design and test experimental tooling with operations team.
• Assist in other areas of die design, manufacturing and start-up.
• Lead or participate in continuous improvement activities at the facility.
