Job summary

Antares in Torrance, CA, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to design and develop tooling and ground support equipment for mass‑produced microreactors. You will work with manufacturing, test, and deployment teams to translate needs into practical engineering solutions.

You will create 3D CAD models and drawings, lead tooling concepts, and perform basic engineering analyses to ensure safety and reliability. This role emphasizes hands‑on fabrication and field readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline.
• 3+ years of experience designing mechanical hardware, tooling, fixtures, or ground support equipment.
• Strong 3D CAD skills; Siemens NX experience preferred but not required.
• Experience designing hardware for manufacturing, assembly, test, installation, or field operations environments.

Responsibilities

• Own the design, development, fabrication, qualification, and implementation of tooling and ground support equipment for manufacturing, testing, and deployment of Antares R1 microreactors.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, test, reactor hardware, operations, quality, and deployment teams to translate needs into engineering solutions.
• Develop tooling concepts balancing safety, usability, manufacturability, schedule, cost, reliability, and field constraints.
• Create 3D CAD models, assemblies, and drawings for fixtures, handling equipment, and support tooling; NX experience preferred.
• Perform mechanical design analysis to ensure tooling is safe, robust, and fit for purpose.
• Work hands-on with machinists, welders, technicians, suppliers, and engineers to fabricate and commission tooling.
• Contribute to design reviews, build readiness, and deployment planning to ensure tooling readiness.
