Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a skilled Tool Maker/Machinist to construct precision tools and tooling components for efficient manufacturing processes. The contractor-to-hire role is based in Spencerport, NY, requiring experience with lathes, mills, grinders and precision measuring tools.

Ideal candidates will have 5+ years in trade education or apprenticeship, strong tool design and drafting interpretation, and the ability to train apprentices and collaborate with engineers on design changes.

Qualifications

• Experience with tool and die making and shop math.
• Proficient with micrometers, calipers, and other metrology tools.
• Experience operating mills, lathes and grinders to spec.
• Five+ years of trade school, vocational training or apprenticeship.

Responsibilities

• Study blueprints, models, or tool descriptions to plan operations.
• Set up and operate lathes, milling machines, and grinders.
• Position parts on fixtures and verify with measuring tools.
• Fit and assemble parts into assemblies as directed.
• Train apprentices in toolmaker setup and operation.
• Heat treat tools or parts as required.
• Coordinate with engineers to implement design changes.
• Inspect parts and seek process improvements.
