Job summary

RH Aero Systems in Mason, OH, is seeking a Senior Tool & Die Maker to lead fabrication, assembly, modification, and validation of military-grade tooling from concept to production.

You will interpret engineering drawings and GD&T, set up CNC equipment, troubleshoot tooling issues, and collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations to improve manufacturability and lead times.

Qualifications

• Seven+ years of progressive experience in precision machining or tooling.
• Background as Tool & Die Maker or Precision Machinist.
• Advanced blueprint reading, GD&T, and precision measurement.
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
• Experience with CAD/CAM, CNC programming, and Lean or Kaizen is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of fabricating, assembling, modifying, and validating military-grade tooling from concept through production.
• Transform prototypes into safe, repeatable manufacturing processes that scale with production needs.
• Determine best machining/build methods by reading engineering drawings, CAD models, specs, and GD&T.
• Set up and operate CNC equipment to produce components, fixtures, gauges, and tooling systems meeting demanding requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve tooling, manufacturability, tolerance, material, and quality issues to keep work on track.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations to improve manufacturability and lead-time reliability.
• Drive continuous improvement by identifying automation, mistake-proofing, and fixture improvements.

What You Will Do?

• Transform prototypes and one-off builds into safe, repeatable, well-documented manufacturing processes that can scale with production needs.
• Determine the best machining and build methods by interpreting engineering drawings, CAD models, specifications, and GD&T requirements.
• Set up and operate CNC equipment to produce precision components, fixtures, gauges, and complete tooling systems that meet demanding requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve tooling, manufacturability, tolerance, material, and quality issues to keep work on track and support delivery commitments.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations to improve manufacturability, production flow, first-pass yield, and lead-time reliability.
• Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for automation, mistake-proofing, and stronger fixture solutions, while sharing your expertise to develop less-experienced associates.

Qualifications

What You Will Bring?

• A background as a Tool & Die Maker or Precision Machinist, gained through education, an apprenticeship, hands-on experience, or an equivalent combination of these qualifications.
• At least seven years of progressive experience in precision machining or tooling, ideally within aerospace, defense, or another highly regulated manufacturing environment.
• Advanced, hands-on expertise in blueprint reading, GD&T, precision measurement, CNC machining, fixture design, materials, and machining practices.
• A proven ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, balance competing priorities, and consistently deliver results with minimal oversight.
• Strong creativity, mechanical aptitude, personal ownership, and a continuous improvement mindset grounded in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
• Experience with CAD/CAM, CNC programming, new-product introduction, and Lean or Kaizen practices is preferred.
