Job summary

NorthHill Technology Resources LLC in Lorton, VA seeks a Tier 3 NOC Network Engineer with an active TS/SCI clearance. The role is on-site at a client location in Lorton, VA, offering leadership over Tier 1/2 escalations and advanced troubleshooting.

Responsibilities include incident resolution, performance analysis, network design and integration of new technologies, mentorship, security policy support, and on-call rotations, with on-site team management and invoicing support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in network operations or related roles.
• Expert-level understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VLANs, and VPNs.
• Hands-on with Cisco/Juniper and other enterprise gear.
• Proficient with SolarWinds, Wireshark, PRTG.
• Strong network security knowledge: firewalls, IDS/IPS, and ACLs.
• CCNP or equivalent certification highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Serve as escalation point for Tier 1/2 network issues.
• Lead diagnosis and resolution of critical incidents to minimize downtime.
• Conduct deep-dive performance analysis to identify optimization.
• Design, implement, maintain network configurations and upgrades.
• Collaborate with architects on design and capacity planning.
• Oversee integration of new network technologies.
• Mentor Tier 1/2 NOC personnel.
• Ensure security standards and contribute to policies.
• Maintain up-to-date network documentation.
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergencies.
• On-site team management including mentoring and time reporting.
• Assist with business development and invoicing processes.
