Job summary

NewGen Technologies in Lorton, VA seeks a Senior NOC Network Engineer (Tier 3) Supervisor to lead a high‑level team and own complex network operations. You will oversee incident response, performance analysis, and network design initiatives across on‑premises and cloud environments.

Requires TS/SCI clearance, DoD 8570 II certs, 5+ years in NOC/engineering, and strong Cisco/Juniper experience. On‑call duties and leadership responsibilities are essential; travel may be limited.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT or related field.
• DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification requirements (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA Security).
• 5+ years in network operations/engineering.
• Expert knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VLANs, VPNs.
• Hands-on with Cisco/Juniper enterprise gear.
• Experience with solar monitoring tools: SolarWinds, Wireshark, PRTG.
• Strong security knowledge: firewall, IDS/IPS, access control.
• Cloud networking experience (AWS/Azure) is a plus.
• CCNP/CCIE or equivalent desirable.
• Willing to work non-standard hours, including on-call.

Responsibilities

• Lead diagnosis and resolution of critical incidents to minimize downtime.
• Perform deep-dive network performance analysis and optimization.
• Design, implement, and maintain network configurations and upgrades.
• Collaborate with architects on network design and capacity planning.
• Oversee integration of new technologies into existing infra.
• Mentor Tier 1/2 NOC staff and provide technical guidance.
• Ensure security standards and contribute to security policies.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation on network architecture and processes.
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergencies.
• On-site team management: mentoring, time reporting, business development, communications, invoicing.

Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior NOC Network Engineer (Tier 3) Supervisor to join our Partner's team in Lorton, VA. This role is perfect for individuals with advanced network operations expertise, and are capable of handling high-level troubleshooting and leading network improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the escalation point for complex network issues from Tier 1 and Tier 2 support
• Lead the diagnosis and resolution of critical network incidents to minimize downtime
• Conduct deep-dive network performance analysis and proactively identify areas for optimization
• Design, implement, and maintain network configurations, upgrades, and solutions
• Collaborate with network architects and other teams on network design and capacity planning
• Oversee the integration of new network technologies and solutions into existing infrastructure
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to Tier 1 and Tier 2 NOC personnel
• Ensure network security standards are adhered to and contribute to the development of security policies
• Maintain up-to-date documentation on network architecture, configurations, and processes
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond to network emergencies as needed
• Provide on-site team management including:
  • Mentoring of junior team members
  • Management of time reporting/forecasting for the team
  • Assist with Business Development activities
  • Ownership of weekly/monthly contractually required communications with Prime
  • Assist with monthly invoicing processes to ensure accurate billing to the customer

Requirements

• TS/SCI Clearance
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Must meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification requirements (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA Security, etc.)
• 5+ years of experience in network operations, engineering, or a similar role
• Expert-level understanding of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VLANs, and VPNs
• Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, and/or other enterprise network equipment
• Proficiency with network monitoring and diagnostic tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark, PRTG)
• Strong knowledge of network security principles, including firewall management, IDS/IPS, and access control
• Proven ability to lead incident response and troubleshoot complex network issues
• Experience with cloud networking concepts, such as AWS, Azure, or hybrid environments, is a plus
• Industry certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent are highly desirable
• Must be willing to work non-standard hours, including on-call duties
