Job summary

Verizon is seeking a Distinguished Threat Hunter and operational lead to architect and execute advanced threat hunting strategies across global environments. You will mentor staff, develop detection logic, and brief executives on threat landscapes.

The role requires proven leadership, strong cross-functional collaboration, and deep expertise in SIEM/EDR, with a remote-capable setup and a salary ranging from $137,000 to $263,000 depending on location and experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or eight+ years of related work experience.
• Six+ years of specialized experience in threat hunting, incident response, or advanced threat analytics.
• Experience investigating network protocol anomalies and telemetry from network edge devices.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute high-priority hunt missions using threat intelligence and telemetry.
• Analyze MITRE ATT&CK techniques and translate findings into proactive defenses.
• Provide expert technical direction during major cyber security incidents and investigations.
• Mentor and develop team members, guiding junior analysts and threat hunters.
• Summarize findings and telemetry for executives and stakeholders.
• Mature hunting methodologies and automated workflows across SIEM, EDR, and data lake platforms.
• Collaborate with Threat Intelligence, IR, SOC, and Security Engineering teams.
• Develop detection rules and IOC/IOA indicators across multiple technologies.
• Remain ready to respond to urgent security events, including off-hours.
